Hello all!

Please bear with me as this is my first post on this site.

I am looking to upgrade my gaming experience and I'm not sure which direction to take. Currently, I am working with a single 3gb gtx 660 ti playing on a 1080p monitor. I can play most games on high to ultra settings with generally playable frame rates.

To really upgrade my experience, would I benefit more from a new 1440p monitor or a gtx 980?

Thanks for your feedback.

I would suggest GTX 780ti over GTX970 cause it's performance is better than GTX970.

but, Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming performance is almost equal to 780ti but price diff. is about $70.
So, I would recommend u to go with gigabyte 970 G1 gaming.
and this monitor is pretty good wide viewing angles and with 5ms response time 27" screen with IPS panel

If u can't buy both of them then u should choose Graphics card :)

I would personally stick with the 970 as it's got more features than the 780ti. Also, the 780ti might be a little better than the 970, but the 970 is newer and it's cheaper too. Rather go with 970! Also, that 4GB of VRAM will do much better on 1440P monitors than a 3GB would!

I would rather have the GTX 970 because the performance is barely 5% less than the 780ti, if not the same in most cases. The power consumption is much lower too. Not to mention it's nearly $100 cheaper. Plus with all these new games using so much VRAM e.g. Shadow of Mordor, Watch Dogs, etc, 4GB would last quite a bit longer than 3GB, especially at 1440p.

This, and the fact that it'll be cheaper to SLI the 970 rather than the 780ti or the 980. Two 970s will blow the 780ti and the 980 out of the water!
