Okay so i have a Amd Fx 9370 cpu, and a shit ton of people hate on it. I bought it for $150 and yes i did have to buy a liquid cooler good enough to cool it. I overclock it to 5ghz stable, before you go on and start talking shit, http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+FX-9370+Eig... Not too bad especially for what i paid for it, I know intel wins but i'm just defending the fx 9 series a bit, everyone attacks them and i do see their point but for the money you get a pretty good bang for your buck. Just something to think about

Well they're surely nice for heating up the room if you live in the north (Canada,Russia,Scandinavia,Alaska), ofcourse performance is admirable, however that's all it has got up its sleeve.

So a similar score to a 45w 3.5ghz Xeon with a stock cooler, double the single thread performance, running much cooler and similar overall price (including cooler). Yeah that's not bad....... For the Xeon. Or is this too much sh.. ?

The processor itself is a joke honestly.

You can get IDENTICAL performance from OCing an 8320 to the exact same speeds, for less cost.
You also expect me to believe an 8320 outperforms a 4670k? Passmark is far from benchmarks.

BUT, for 150, which is 10 bucks more than the 8320, its honestly not a real waste. Would I have recommended it, no. Did you do anything wrong? Not directly.

IF you can get one for $150, no you cant really get another cpu that is as good for the price. BUT then your spending $100 on a watercooler.....so its now a $250 cpu, which, is still ok for the price IF your running apps that make use of the 8 cores. You will also need a power supplly with an additional 150 watts up its sleeve. Lot of if's and buts there.... If you can fill the if's and but's then thats great, but its really a niche market and i could not recommend that cpu to just anyone.

$150 9370 fx
$150 990 fx motherboard
$100 high end cooling solution

vs.

$240 xeon e3-1231v3
$90 h97 motherboard

Profit?

In my particular situation, i bought the cooler off amazon for $60. I had the opportunity to build a cheap 9 series fx amd and i took it. Overall i spend about $700 with a 270x gpu. I agree with most of you tbh, the performance you get with the chip can easily be beaten by much of what intel has to offer, but as a owner of it i honestly cant complain especially for what i paid. If i had to pay regular price of course i wouldn't buy it.
