Hello everyone,

It’s time for me to upgrade again, which I haven’t been able to do in years. My budget is around $800-$1000, a big enough range for some wiggle room if needed. I want to be able to run a lot of the newer games like Shadow of Mordor (not necessarily on Ultra, I know this game is a beast) and it is essential that this build can stream in HD (I don’t mind lowering graphical settings for this if need be but I would mostly be streaming less graphical intense games like DotA 2 and Hearthstone).

Places I will buy from: Newegg / Tigerdirect / Amazon

Things I want: Full size ATX board, don’t want a mini or micro ATX build / 256GB SSD (I already have another internal HDD to supplement it with)

Things I don’t need: Extra internal HDD / Operating System (I have windows 8.1) / any kind of disc drive / keyboard, mouse, monitor, headset, etc

Other thoughts: I’ve always used Intel and generally also Nvidia, but I am not married to these if someone can get a nice build in this price-range that would be as good as its counterpart or better / I’m thinking I may want an aftermarket cooler for the CPU if you think that’s needed and in my price range / I will likely put a list of parts I have compiled on here in an updat but I first want to see what everyone can come up with from scratch for me.

Thanks a ton!

Updating with my current list that clocks right in at $1000 USD. What do you think about this? Any way of shaving off a few bucks?

You shouldn't really use an i5 for streaming, it is pretty much the only time I would reccomend an 8320/8350 over an i5. Either get an 8350 or an i7 when streaming.

That's better :D Also, I never really understood the hype of SSDs, they never really made a big difference to me. I would get rid of the SSD and get an i7 4790k + Asus Z97-A so I could overclock, but that's just my personal preference.

Thanks guys, that actually helps me a lot, I was really wondering about i5's for streaming and was a little concerned it might not be quite enough.

@logainofhades

I do like that build quite a bit, if I raised my price limit to about $1050 or $1100 do you think this build would be better for a little bit more money? I would also really like some streamers' opinions on using i7 versus i5.

And what about an aftermarket CPU cooler? I'm thinking if I go with that intel i7-4790K @ 4.0GHz I'll probably need something right?
