2560x1080 native resolution monitor with nVidia GT610 - how to?

Hi,
I have newly LG 25UM65 2560x1080 resolution monitor connected via HDMI on nVidia GT610.
Windows XP and the latest drivers 344.11

The graphic card is supposed to be able to show up to 2560x1600, but it shows only 1920x1080 maximum in the standard resolution option. By the nVidia tweak, I can creat custom resolution but it doesn´t fit into the screen, and enlarges behind the edge of monitor and I can move there with mouse cursor. I "already tried everything" but can´t manage to get the native resolution shown.

Any idea exept of waiting for new drivers fixing this, or reinstalling to Windows 7 hoping the drivers for them are better?

Not sure you can get 2560x1080 over the HDMI port on the 610. Can you use DVI instead?

Go into Nvidia control panel and create a Custom Resolution, should work fine.

DVI does not work at all, at least when I use Dual cable. Monitor recieves no signal at all from the card port, it´s DVI-I. HDMI work though. So I stick by it.

The custom resolution only enlarges the 1920x1080 deformation and makes it wider, behind the screen edge so I can slide the screen. Pretty much as if the monitor was 1920x1080 and couldn´t show the resolution.

Oh right yeah, thats because you are using HDMI.

You need to use dual link DVI cable.

The LG product guide says HDMI should suffice. And the DVI Dual cable which I bought for this purpose does not work at all, the monitor might be flawed because i tried 2 graphic cards, and neither works, also the cable can be bad, but it was blank new, never used.

If I was a rich man, I would torn the cable in two, smack the monitor to the wall and trample the graphic card to dust, but ... I´m not a rich man.

I think you will have a nightmare on windows XP, its long out of date now. I would bite the bullet and go to windows 7/8

After installing Windows 7 and the same latest driver 344.11 for Windows 7 it has had offered me the UltraWide option without any further manual customisation needed. Great! So the problem is solved and I do finally see the native resolution of the monitor.
