So I'm going for an upgrade, since lightning struck and most of my PC parts were burnt out. My GPU and CPU survived but my RAM and PSU were completely obliterated. I don't have alot of money to throw since I bought a GTX 770 in July which cost me $350 and since I just bought a new PSU I'll need RAM. So how much do I really need? is 4GB or even 6GB enough or do I have to go for the ever so popular 8?Thanks in advance guys.

If the RAM was damaged, how is your motherboard? What board? How is /was your 6 organized?

So, after doing some tests, I found out that its not my RAM thats not working properly, it's the motherboard. I have no idea how much a new motherboard would cost, so please give me some suggestions, thanks.

Motherboards require more information, starting with what CPU do you plan to get, AMD or Intel, and which model, so we know what socket must be on the board. What RAM do you have now? What board did you have before?

I really dont know what sort of RAM I have. My CPU is an i5-2500k but I'm planning to upgrade next year. I might also get new RAM, a 1x8GB one, so a near-future proof one would be excellent.
