Hello everyone!
I am new here, and was hoping to get some help in choosing video card.

I have decided to build my computer to replace my 6 yo Dell XPS.

So far I have:
CPU: i5 4560k
MoBo: ASUS Z97 Savertooth Mark2
RAM: HyperX 8Gb
PSU: Antec 650W NeoPower (bought it about 5 years ago, still new in box).

Next step is video card... Turned out much harder choice than I originally thought.

Contenders (all EVGA, because of reputation of the brand):
- 760 with 2Gb or 4Gb
- 770 with 2Gb or 4Gb
- 780 with 3Gb...

Because of not too horrible price difference I could get 760 for around $180 (after rebate) or 780 for around $300.

I run two monitors, and do mostly work on it.
But I would like to be able to edit photos, and may be even videos in the future.
And when time permits I would really like to see what I've been missing in the video games world. Some games I would play just because of awesome graphics.

Although my current monitors are 1080, I would like to have future proof video card. And because price difference isn't that great, I am leaning toward 780, but want to get some advise from an intelligent crowd. :)

Thank you very much!

If you're going for the best possible card, the 780 is the best of these. However you can get a 970 for the same price, which is what I'd personally go with.

A 970 for sure. I wouldn't buy an EVGA 970, though.

I started looking at 750, then moved onto 760, then considered 770 and 780. But 970 somehow didn't come up, so I know nothing about 970.

If new words, why pick 970 over 770 or 780? Thank you.

Thanks for the input! I though EVGA was better one of cards out there. Why not get EVGA? Which brands do you think are better?

EVGA went cheap on their 970's. They used a poorly designed cooler, a 4 + 2 phase PCB and their fans are quite loud. They didn't improve much over the reference 970, while everyone else upgraded their cards.

I recommend the MSI 970 Gaming or the Gigabyte G1. Both are great cards.

Looks like 970 is sold out everywhere. Is 970 worth the wait even though 770s and 780s are sold at discount and additional rebates?
Thanks!

Yes, the 970 is definitely worth the wait.

Thank you. I have listened to words of wisdom and will wait until I can get my hands on the 970.
Next tough question is which brand to get. Sounds like EVGA is slacking, MSI might not be ready for Tier 1, but ASUS and Gygabyte are solid best.

I have a Gigabyte card, so I can tell you that the windforce cooling system is excellent. I've never had any issues with temperature or anything with it. Its solid performance wise, and some of them come with a bit of an overclock which can be nice. I highly recommend them.
