I recently bought an R7 265 as an upgrade to my current ati 5770. This is my current PSU

When I installed the new graphic card, the card seems to work fine. The fan spins, computer turns on properly; just that the monitor only has a blinking black light. It's like when the computer is in sleep mode. Here are the things that I've tried.
1) I installed the latest driver for the R9 265 before putting the card in.
2) I plugged my old card back into the pci slot to see if there was anything wrong, everything was fine.
The only thing I could think of is that the card has a DVI connection slot that's connected to my monitor RGB slot. I mean it was fine for my old card so I assume it would be fine for this one. Does it make sense for me to go and buy a DVI adapter and connect my card to the DVI slot on the monitor instead of the RGB slot?
