Hi
As the title states, AMD FX-8350 or the i5 4670k?
I would like to stream at 1080p, and I will be playing games such as DayZ and Dota 2.
I looked at the OBS Estimator and it said that the AMD will only be able to stream at 25 fps, why is this?
Which one do you think will be future proof as well?
Thanks

The fps while streaming you get depends on your internet connection. It all matters the setting you use as well. If you are going to get an i5 get the 4690k its newer.

4690K or better, but make sure its paired with a good graphics card.

Unless you already have a Z87 board, you should just go for the 4690k instead. 0.1 GHZ faster, better thermal performance, etc, for the same price. The FX 8350 would be better in applications that take use of 8 cores. But due to the I5 4670k's single core performance, the I5 4670k is a better choice for what you want. The I5 4670k is better in gaming and anything that uses four cores or less.

So does streaming requires only 4 cores? Will it be better using 4 cores instead of 8?
Also, I will be needing to upgrade my motherboard anyway, and my graphics card is the GTX 660.
Thanks for the responses

I have a 8350 and just bought it 2 months ago and it suits well for the price. IF I could go back I would have got an i5 just for the sake of the upgrade path. There is really nothing after 8350 but maybe 9590 which is quit the same and i5 paired with a good board leaves the i7 upgrade path. And you don't need 8 cores to play and stream.

Okay, thanks guys for the responses.
I will go for the 4690k.

I have no problems streaming 1080p games in 1080p with an i3-4130, and that's "technically" a dual core (but it has hyperthreading so it has 4 cores if it helps)

How are you streaming with that processor?
I have an i3 2120 atm and I can't even stream at 720p.
Are you using OBS? If not, what are you using and how are you using it?
Thanks

Well the i3-2120 is quite a bit older than my 4130. And yes I use OBS (because the other ones like fraps/shadowplay only do 720p).

I also have a 750ti though as well, the GPU you have will impact streaming performance.

I do get some dips below 30fps, but it generally holds very solid.

I was also originally only doing it with 4gbs of RAM at 1600mhz, but I upgraded to 8gbs because i wanted to record at the same time.

I see your 2120 can only use ram at 1333, that might affect performance somewhat, but I somehow doubt it would be the primary cause of why you can't even stream at 720.
