Hi Guys,
Apologies been awhile since I made a machine, I'm trying to get a Xeon e3.1270 v3 to seat into the Gigabyte z97x-ud5h-bk. now although there do not seem to be any issues the seat on the board has pins that point up whilst the processor is flat. Are there any problems here or does the seat need to be flat too? Sorry for the noddy question.

Short answer is yes, that's how LGA (Land rid Array) works. The pins are on the socket and they make contact with flat pieces on the chip.

It will work, but, why dont you better get a i7 4790k?, is at the same price plus is unlocked, the e3 1231 v3 is a good deal for the price, but the 1270 v3 seems a bit pricey. What do you plan to do with that build?
