hi.
i had a gaming system for 3 or 4 years and i sold it last year.from then i'm using a laptop for everything.
i'm trying to build a new gaming system for myself.
i thought that because i'm building a new system it's better to choose from X99 systems.but the price will become something a problem. :D
then my friend said "why don't you make a gaming system with Z97 and the money problem will be solved a little?"
i need a full System.i have to buy PSU,monitor, keyboard and everything.but these things will be the same for both two options.so they won't make any change in the final price.
so any help will be appreciated.
here are my two options:

#1 - X99
MB : Asus X99-DELUXE
CPU : Core i7 5820K
Ram : 16 gig DDR4 (haven't decided on the model and brand. :D )
GPU : EVGA GeForce GTX 970 or EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Superclocked

#2 - Z97
MB : Asus MAXIMUS VII FORMULA
CPU : Core i7 4790k
Ram : 16 gig DDR3 (haven't decided on the model and brand. :D )
GPU : EVGA GeForce GTX 970 or EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Superclocked

will it be worth to buy X99 system or not?i'm not one of those people that buy a new system every year.i use it for 4 years.so any help?

P.S : i know that these two doesn't make any difference in the final price.but in my country it makes a HUGE difference.(difference is three month of my salary actually. :D )

There's not much sense in using the X99 platform, in my opinion, right now unless you need the extra PCI lanes for dual graphics card configurations. The Z97 platform is still excellent, relevant and will last you quite some time especially considering the recently released cpus and motherboard revisions that support those releases. It's a good platform for any desired usage.

You also don't need an i7 for gaming. The i5 has equal performance while gaming in both actual use and benchmarks. I can put together a suitable build for you but it would help to know what country you are in so I know the parts are available to you.

thank you for your answer.i don't really need a dual graphic at this time.maybe a year from now if games don't run good on my system i'll add another graphic.but right now i think that GTX 980 or even GTX 970 will provide me with everything i need.

i need i7 for other things too.i sometime use my system for rendering and these kind of things.i prefer i7.
i live in iran. everything is available here except X99 motherboards , DDR4 rams and GTX 980/970.the problem is that in my country if a hardware is new it'll cost 1.3 more than the original.Asus X99 Delux is 400$ and it cost 500$ for me.
but i'll be happy if you can put a build for me. ;-)

Actually, to make it easier, you can find your own hardware wherever it's cheapest for you. I don't think you really need to go with the Maximus VII formula. It really doesn't have that much to add above the Hero. I'd just go with the i7-4790k, an ASUS Hero ROG board, 1866mhz DDR3 RAM and whatever brand of GTX 970 you can get.

As for the PSU that you're going to need, 500w is plenty for that GPU unless you are going to add another 970 later in which case you want an 850w unit. Don't go with anything cheap on this part of your purchase. It's the most important part of the computer. Good brands include Seasonic, XFX, Superflower, EVGA and certain models of Corsair are ok too. Be careful though.

Corsair and many brands like Thermaltake also have extremely bad PSU models as well. Don't pay attention to reviews on shopping sites, most those people wouldn't know what was good for powering a light bulb, much less a high end computer. Here is a list to the PSU Tier list. You want something no lower than Tier 2B and for those cards you really want something Tier 2A or Tier 1. I would not use a Tier 3 PSU with those cards and that system unless you absolutely had no choice.

Yeah, that sucks. I know in your country the average person doesn't have a whole lot of options sometimes due to trade embargos and other stupid shit. Hopefully you can still find what you need though.

thank you for your help.i think that Hero ROG is a better option than Formula. cause i don't need some of the features in formula.
for the PSU part.i have to search for something instead of those you mentioned.cause i don't think we have them here.but i know that PSU is one the most important things in PC so i'll choose a good one. ;-)
and thank for your help.i'm going with Z97.
