First off, I'm pretty much a tech noob aside from reading. This is the setup I'm considering: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/cjNv23
I live in the US.

My budget is around 900 for components. I'm not looking to over clock and instead want to simply run stock. I do, however, like the option of overclocking in the future in a couple years perhaps when I buy new components. I don't look to run games on ultra either, and normally run most games I play with an fps config. I mainly play fps games and try to maintain at least 120 frames. Do these components complement each other well? Are there any shortcuts I can take financially while preserving longevity of components, as well as performance? Do you think I will run into trouble with failing parts later down the road in say 2-3 years if I stick with performance over visual quality? (again not looking to run anything on ultra but want it to look great)

I apologize if I come off a bit strong. I'm simply trying to get everything perfect and have never done this before. Many thanks in advance!

oh wow, I didn't even know about that r9 290. I will go that route then. Could you suggest a better motherboard than the GA Z97? I could drop another $50 just to ensure that the SATA cables won't break (I was reading more than a few reviews about that con particularly). Is it worth it to drop an additional $30 dollars on the r9 290 for a better quality version or are most of them pretty much the same thing? I saw this one on amazon for slightly more http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Radeon-DisplayPort-PCI-E...
Upon further reading, I found a few posts about doa r9 290 cards. Do you think this is something to worry about with this model?
Finally, I plan on running things stock without much overclock. Should I worry about over heating/temperature with the i5 4690k and r9 290?

Thank you again in advance for your response.

? Which reviews? About sata cables? That motherboard comes with four, these should do fine.

I have a club3d hd 7870 tahiti LE "Joker"card and it is a good card, maybe a bit noisy when fully under load, but that r9 290 has a three fan cooler which i assume will make les noise and keep the card cooler.

The case i chose comes standard with three fans so i don't think so,you could add fans if you wanted.
Look for a nice case yourself too.I like this one too,

just as another example.

Well my thoughts on things.:D

Thank you for your feedback. I like the motherboard you listed. The amazon review for the GA had numerous people talking about cheap Sata that broke or was likely to. I think I will stick with the ASRock. I like the majority of the reviews for the antec 1100 case as well. I will hope for the best when I order the club3d.
I updated my list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/7ByVLk

One last question, is the power supply perfect for what I'm trying to accomplish, it seems like you took into account what I said earlier about possible over clock later down the road. Is it good to have more than needed Watts? From my understanding, the psu uses only as much power as it needs, so nothing is going to blow up because of too much frequency. The list says estimated 447W for the system. It seems cheap enough that I could have stronger psu instead of downgrading for a cheaper one. I'm just wondering what's up with the extra 150+ W. Thank you so much again.

That build looks all good to go as it is. As for the extra 150+W from the PSU, it is just a buffer, as you will have spikes in power usage which will go above the estimate, and also the fact that PSU's don't like being run at their maximum power either
October 11, 2014 2:29:02 PM

The psu is of good quality and will only supply what the pc needs. That wattage above the parts list is probably,as all those programs do,overrated anyway.

I would pick the hdd out of my build,an explanation why you pick the one you chose? Just curious.I see you read your reviews. Here's one with the seagate of my choice in it,
