Hey All,

I am planning to upgrade my old PC.

Current specs:
Intel D915GAG 3 Ghz
1.5 gigs RAM
400W PSU
650GB WD HDD

I have almost decided to use the below specs for the upgrade. Confusion remains for the exact MoBo as I would like to install Linux after the upgrade is complete.

Specs for the upgrade are:

AMD FX 6300 CPU
Corsair 4GB DDR3 RAM
450 or 500W PSU

For the MoBos I have selected one from Asus and Gigabyte as they seemed to match my needs,
1. GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3
2. ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3

Both have their own Pros and Cons but I am ok with those. Please help me decide and select any one from above. Also if there is any suggestions for PSU's too.

Upgrade is mainly for gaming, video editing and Linux...

Both are good , those are the 2 brand boards I buy . Asus gets the nod these days , unless the Gigabyte is way less expensive for the same features .

Thanks a lot..I have decided to go for Asus. In the specs for the board it shows DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600(O.C.)/1333/1066 MHz ECC.
So if I am buying Corsair 1600 Mhz, at what speed with will the memory run? How to go about getting the full speed of the RAM with this board?
