Hi There,

I'm about to pull the trigger on a new PC build for HD and 4k video editing in Premiere Pro CC.

This is where I'm at:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/k8L499

Here are my questions:

* Am I overkill anywhere? Any places I can save a few bucks?
* Would Dual Xeons give better performance than single i7?
* Do I have enough fans/cooling?
* Any other recommendations?

Two notes:

* Don't need much storage because it connects to a server that contains all the footage that I work from.
* I need the expensive networking card (10gb) so I can have a super fast connection to the server.

Thank you!
Eric

I'll explain:
The Xeon is an 8-core with Hyper-Threading CPU, so it has 16 threads, which will make editing a breeze.
I don't think you'll be needing 32 GB of RAM unless you open ten instances of Premiere Pro CC and watch ten Youtube videos simultaneously.
Dual Xeons would be a bit too expensive...
The Quadro 5000 is a workstation GPU, so it will edit, render and stuff like that faster than Geforce GPUs, which are designed for gaming.
The Phanteks Enthoo pro along with two extra 140mm fans will provide excellent airflow.

Premiere Pro CC isn't even complicated to use and the Xeon CPU will help A LOT:
Intel Core2 Duo or AMD Phenom II processor with 64-bit support
Microsoft Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 (64 bit) or Windows 8 (64 bit)
4 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended)
4 GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on removable flash storage devices)
Additional disk space required for preview files and other working files (10 GB recommended)
1280 x 800 display
7200 RPM or faster hard drive (multiple fast disk drives configured for RAID 0 recommended)
Sound card compatible with ASIO protocol or Microsoft Windows Driver Model
QuickTime 7.6.6 software required for QuickTime features
Optional: Adobe-certified GPU card with at least 1 GB of VRAM for GPU-accelerated performance
Internet connection and registration are necessary for required software activation, validation of subscriptions, and access to online services.*

The GPU in my build, the Quadro 5000, is an Adobe-certified GPU to accelerate performance.

It might be meant for dual-CPU configs, but on its own, it's just fine.

I would think 16 threads are enough to edit 4K? There's also a 1K$ workstation GPU which allows for acceleration.
Is that not good enough?

I bet an i7 variant is more powerful than a single Xeon E5-2630, but I don't want to say anything for certain because I'm not familiar with the exact requirements needed to edit in 4k. If I did I would have made a recommendation.

@OP You might want to wait until someone else posts a build, or try the adobe forums.
