Hi to all.
I've got the following problem. On my vaio laptop everything worked fine until today when suddenly the internet speed dropped from 16 Mbps to 0.34! The laptop gets the 54Mb signal very well but there's no speed. I have another laptop and an ipad and there are no problems with them. So i tried reinstalling(and updating) the atheros wireless driver - no help. Ok, then I found out that the laptop sees only 4 networks (and there are more than 10 in our building!). Checked for viruses (avast) - nothing found. Went to Safe Mode (with network drivers loaded) and- miracle - the speed is OK, it sees all the 10+ networks.. When I reboot to normal - no speed, 3 networks :(  It must be some virus or something like that but I can't find it :(  I tried to turn off all user startup programs (msconfig) - no help. The another fun fact is that when I returned from the Safe Mode to normal for some 3 minutes the laptop was able to find all the networks but after that it "returned to normal" and stopped working properly.
I appreciate any help or any kind of advice cause I can't find a way to locate the virus(if there is one) or the cause of the problem :(

You issue may be related to network interference. Since you have so many wifi networks in your building there is bound to be interference between them. I really DON'T think IT'S A wireless issue. Also your laptop is a G based wifi where as your iPad is N based and has a more advanced wireless section. G is a very old standard and wifi has come a long way. You might try getting a new usb wifi adapter. Something that is rated as a minimum of N150 (which is the N minimum) and give that a try.

Good luck.
