Please help me with that.
On my MSI Z87 - G45 Gaming it is not going well... :(  Cant restart the PC (it will go black screen) half of my ram ports are out.. (slot 1-2) so i only can use 8GB ram out of 16GB.

Please tell me guys that MOBO´s you are using.. and it would be best, if you write to the comment allso, what changes you had to do to make the processor run. /bios update, or nothing it was ok from the start (that type of MB i want to buy as soon asi possible)/.

Please i am awaiting answers on my threads from friday :(

Thanks a lot..
Have a great week guys!

Erm...

1. Update BIOS to latest version
2. Adjust CPU cooler/fan or buy a new one so it won't block your RAM slots
3. Problem solved - no need to buy a new motherboard.

Hi thanks for the reply
I dont have a cooler that is blocking my Ram´s my ram slots went out (not functional) after bios update and putting core i7 in.
The problems with the rams and not restarting correctly were after the update of the BIOS. I have watercooling (not the best but for running the procesor it must be ok.., even on stock it must run), and Update didnt help. I had to put the older corei5 i had to change the bios because ci7 wont event start the picture on screen. More detailes down from this text: Please help.

MY ORIGINAL POST:
I invested like my whole month pay for my new Core i7-4790K processor and my MB didnt take it really good.
After putting the CPU in the board the PC didnt put the picture on the screen (no signal on monitor). After pulling half (2) of my rams out (of 4) the pc did start to bios but olny with core i5 1150. So ive updated the bios because it would then have support on haswell refresh. So ive updated to V1.9 and still the pc didnt work properly with Ci7-4790K. It had issues like if you restart it, it will not run again :(  and ofcoures only with 8gigs of ram on slots 3-4.
So i am really on my head :(  invested lots of money to that CPU and cant figure it out.

HELP ME :(  I think that i need a newer motherboard Z97 that i more suitable for the Ci7-4790K cpu´s as ive read on this site somewhere.
BUT I NEED a motherboard that takes the CPU without flashing !! So guys.. if you have Ci7-4790K and you didnt need to flash it for the CPU, please write me a message or here to this thread what type of Motherboard you have. That type i will buy and hope it will be ok.

THANKS a lot.

Right..

Have you tried resetting CMOS?

Also according to MSI your motherboard supports the 4790K since BIOS version 1.8 but for the last 3 BIOS versions 1.7, 1.8 and 1.9 there is a note with red letters:

You must use one of the following methods to update this BIOS.
- Use MFlash to update "BIOS + ME"
- Use MSI LiveUpdate

Not sure if you have done it the suggested way (whatever they mean by it).

I would reset my CMOS and attempt another BIOS update just in case the previous didn't go well.

Here is how to reset CMOS on your mobo (in case you didn't know :p )

And about your RAM you should have 1 stick in Slot 2 and 1 stick in slot 4 according to the manual below:

Hi mate.

I work in IT busnisses 12 years... so i know how to put ram modules :)  We tried all slots with one ram, 2ram, 3 and 4 only with 2 it is working the way it starts and after restart it leave´s me with a black screen.
We havent tried CMOS reset and then update.

and about this:
You must use one of the following methods to update this BIOS.

- Use MSI LiveUpdate

ive seen it... but what is Mflash (memory flash ? instalation from usb key?..if yes, we have installed it from usb key).
"BIOS + ME" (what does the "ME" mean?)
MSI live update is usable in windows?, or is it part of the bios? I think its only in windows, so can it help me after the instalation of windows and then mflash bios and then running Live Update after instalation of the nevest bios?

Hey,

inside the 1.9 BIOS zip file there is a readme.txt file with the following:

"MSI strongly recommends to update the BIOS & ME via M-Flash as an ME update is required for this bios release or
you can update the BIOS via live update under windows."

After checking on MSI website what M-Flash I found this - http://uk.msi.com/page/biosupdate

If you read through it it appears that M-Flash is found within BIOS so all don't actually need to have OS installed to use it. I would suggest resetting CMOS, going to BIOS, selecting the M-Flash there and following the instructions.

P.S. And that ME I think could mean Intel Management Engine as seen in this article - www.tomshardware.com/reviews/vpro-amt-management-kvm,30...

But this shouldn't concern your update.
