considering your eyes form images in the exact manor I dont think a whole lot would go wrong with projecting images into your eyes. The bigger issue I would think is how the image would look if you moved your eyes around. unlike a screen where you can look around and focus in different areas. I would guess it would have a large enough projection area to cover your entire field of view but assuming the projection is the same distance in each eye it would be interesting to know how they will get the eyes to perceive depth when you look around.
