I wonder if there has been a change in management in the last while here. I notice irritating, space wasting ad banners like the red Sandisk one on the bottom. No matter how many times you click the X to remove it its back with the next page or refresh. This is horrible web design. If something makes us sick, do you really think we'll buy if we get nauseated enough? Pop up banners are the WORST internet idea ever. Do they really generate a lot more money? This used to be a great site with great people and I still see great people here but maybe its time to look elsewhere for computer advice and info if this is the direction you people are taking. The site should work without Javascript but this just doesn't. Another sign of bad design.

I use Firefox with NoScript and AdBlock+, and that gets rid of most web advertising. I see almost none here.

I'm on Chrome with Adblock and Disconnect. Also a 500kb+ hosts file pointing everything to 0.0.0.0

tom2u,

registered members will see zero advertisements on the forum. if you want to avoid the advertisements all you need to do is sign in (its easiest to set yourself to auto-sign-in). you will still see advertisements on the main site though.

adblocker and similar extensions can block these scripts when not signed in.

toms does not have direct control over which ads you see however if you discover one which is either broken or extremely annoying then it can be looked into and potentially removed from the cycle. it sounds like this one is annoying so you might want to send a message to titillating http://www.tomshardware.com/community/profile-1740535.h... so he can have the devs look into it.
