I have got a legacy computer with following configuration. The problem is that I cannot play any HD video or high quality video on that 945 integrated graphics.

IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® 4 Processor 2.40 GHz, 1M Cache, 533 MHz FSB
Intel 945 chip based Motherboard
2GB DDR2 RAM
500GB 7200RMP Hitachi HDD
DVD RW Drive
20" LED Dell Monitor

I am confused between Asus Radeon HD 5450 1GB and Radeon HD 6450 1GB. The price of HD 6450 is almost double of HD 5450.

Please could anyone advice which one I should buy? My sole purpose is to play HD videos and not gaming. Does HD 5450 can play all HD video formats on the above configuration computer?

Quite honestly, The 6000 series were just repackaged reissues of the 5000 series, so in this case, You won't really see much improvement. The 6450 is basically a 5450 with a shiny new sticker on it. Just get the 5450 and be happy with it. You won't see an improvement in picking the 6450 over the 5450. Save your money and best wishes.
