Hi, I just recently purchased a new gateway modem, a Netgear WNDR3700. Cox cable remotely setup the gateway, and had no issues. I have one computer on Ethernet, and have wirelessly connected (at most) a laptop, desktop, and two smart phones. An external HDD is attached directly to the gateway via USB.

My main computer (MOBO Asus P8Z77-V Lx, PSU Thermaltake TR2-500, running Windows 7 SP1 64bit) is hardwired, directly from the gateway, and is having horrible connection (Speedtest). I am using the onboard network adapter. I occasionally see a 'DNS not responding' error message. Restarting the computer (another Speedtest) improves the connection temporarily, though for how long is indeterminate.

Completed Troubleshooting
    Virus /malware / adware scans - clean
    Updated drivers
    Confirmed correct gateway firmware version
IPv4 IP / DNS settings are on auto
IPv6 IP / DNS settings are on auto
    Power cycled gateway (multiple times)
    Restored gateway to factory settings
    Tried multiple coaxial cables
    Tried multiple Ethernet cables
plugged laptop directly into gateway (internet worked fine)

The fact that the laptop had no issues tells me either it's a setting I am missing or do not understand, or the onboard Ethernet is going out. This weekend I plan to take the wireless card out of the other computer and try it on this one. I am not sure if that will prove anything, as it is a different type of connection. What else am I missing? Please ask for anymore information you might need to help me troubleshoot.
