My PC has:
processor: i7-2600 at 3.4 ghz
RAM: 8gb ddr3
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6570 4gb ddr3 (pretty sure 4gb is useless)
Power Supply: PS 6301 08A (300 Watts)
Motherboard: Intel H67 Express

I was wondering if it's possible to upgrade my GPU to an R7-260x with the processor i have. I know I need a new power supply for sure but how do I know if the r7-260x is compatible with my motherboard and processor?
Also if my processor cannot run the r7-260x, what is the best GPU I could get without buying a new processor (I'm willing to buy new PSU)?

Absolutely! You're processor can support damned near any card with ease (once you replace that PS as you're planning to do). Your motherboard is PCI-E 2.0, but current PCI-E 3.0 video cards are backwards compatible.
