Hello!

I am building a new gaming PC for the very first time! :D After much research here is what I came up with:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor ($189.99 @ NCIX US)

Motherboard: MSI H97 GAMING 3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($118.99 @ Amazon)

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($79.98 @ OutletPC)

Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($149.92 @ Amazon)

Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($68.98 @ OutletPC)

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 760 2GB TWIN FROZR Video Card ($179.99 @ Newegg)

Case: Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($89.99 @ NCIX US)

Power Supply: SeaSonic X Series 660W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power
Supply ($116.66 @ Newegg)

Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($16.99 @ Newegg)

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32/64-bit) ($94.99 @ B&H)
Total: $1106.48

I don't plan on over clocking it as I don't need some monstrous powerful PC. My main focus for this build is quality and reliability.

I welcome any feedback or advice related to my build, and I also have a few questions:

-Is my PSU appropriate for my system? I used a calculator online, and it gave me around 500W at max power. I added 30% to be safe. The PSU I selected is pretty expensive, but I heard good things about SeaSonic.

-A lot of the motherboards I looked at are almost exactly the same..same ports, features, etc. I found an Asrock H97 mobo for $20 less... I'm wondering if there is any brand I should go with? Does brand really matter if the specs are the same?

-How many fans do I need in my case? The Fractal case I selected comes with 3, will that be enough? Also, do I always need more exhaust fans than intake fans?

-Is it ok to skip the after market CPU cooler since I'm not over clocking?

Thank you all! This website has been a valuable source of info!

-The PSU you chose is appropiate. This one is, too.

-This motherboard will have more features.

-3 Fans will be enough for proper cooling.

-Intel's non-K CPUs don't need one. All AMD chips need one.

Just asking, but.. why the 6300?

With the FX-6300, being the best performance/price CPU, will allow the OP to have room in the budget for a much greater video card, while still not compromising the quality of the other components. The GTX 970 will not be bottlenecked by the FX-6300.

It IS the best price/performance CPU.. but, you can stick an I5 in there. Why 6300 > I5?

You can add CM evo 212 if you preferred.

Also, you can change the case to Cooler Master HAF 912 or other cases that you want.

Evga Supernova G2 power supply is the first-tier and it is cheap xD

I do not think Samsung 840 evo is worth extra 20 dollars than mx100.

Anyway, have fun with the builds!

Great, thanks for the input. Thats a great video card but I think it may be a bit too much for my needs. I like the motherboard too

Also, the OP won't overclock.. so there might be a small bottleneck.
