About 6 months ago, I bought an HP Pavilion desktop which all the minimal necessities for today's gaming market... AMD Quad-Core APU, 8Gb DDR3, and a PCI X16 slot (Micro ATX mobo). So, I got my hands on a 600w PSU and a GTX 750ti. Now, I'm looking into just upgrading the system without the worry of cosmetic appeal and just more for performance and straight forward, high-end gaming.

Parts I have in hand (atm) or waiting to come in ....

MSI Z98I Mini ITX motherboard
Intel Core-i7 4790k
Corsair Vengeance LP 16Gb-1600 (2x8)
MSI/Nvidia GeForce GTX 980
...and a nice little low-profile horzontally opposed ID-Cooling IS-50 120mm Heatsink /w CM JetFlo Fan

My question is... When doing the main component swap (Mobo, CPU, and RAM) will I need to reinstall my already installed copy of windows from the HDD? Or do I have to even reinstall it at all? HOW TO's would be MUCH appreciated.

Anytime you replace the motherboard or CPU, or an combination of core components, you should do a clean install. Otherwise, drivers and configurations from the previous setup almost always causes issues.

Do you have installation media such as CD, DVD or USB?
