Is it worth upgrading my Windows 7 PC to windows 8?

It depends...
If you like the new look and access to windows store then go ahead, its quite stable but takes getting used to.

Windows 7 is still fully supported by Microsoft, so no worries it will be like an xp, and its one of its strong points is compatibility.
