290x will be significantly faster, but they run extremely hot on reference coolers and use more power.

Its up to you really what you want. Personally Nvidia has given me a better experience than all of the ATI products ive had over the years, but thats my opinion.

A R9 290x for 200 euros is a killer deal if you wont take it you will regret it. Getting the R9 290x would ensure running all games maxed out for a minimum of 2 years and I personally own a r9 280x which is AMD and don't have any problems so far and as far as heat is concerned it wont be much of problem unless you game hours on end.
Hope it helped you to reach a conclusion......

If you don't mind using used card then 290x is the better choice performance wise. But you might want to make sure your case have very good air flow and if possible use your own fan profile curve if you want to keep it cool. I heard the problem with 290x stock is not just about heat but the excessive heat also might affect performance due to throttling.

So with 200 euro you can get new 770. What AMD card you can get new with that budget?

You can always buy an aftermarket cooler if the card is too hot or loud for your liking. Doesn't have to be all that expensive either.
