Hello everybody.
I'm on the hunt for a new smartphone to replace my old S2. I don't want to spend too much, so I've decided to go for something "mid-rangy".

At the moment I have my eyes on the following:
Samsung Galaxy S3 4G (I9305) - 1700 DKK (~290 USD)
Samsung Galaxy S4 4G (I9506) - 2400 DKK (~410 USD)

But I find it hard to navigate the smartphone world, so hopefully you can help me out. What are the best options for a budget around 400 USD? Keep in mind I have to buy it in Denmark, so it's a bit more expensive than in the US. Also there probably less of a selection, but we do have brands like Sony, HTC, LG and Nokia.
Or maybe I shouldn't even bother at the moment, and instead wait for better phones to drop in price?

I hope you can help me out!

I would go for either one of the nexus line if you want a pure android series. Go for the moto series if you want a near android which does not impact performance. The gs3 is good for basic things but tends to slow down when it has to do lots of multi task. I don't know about the s4 but there shouldn't be that much of a performance gap. l

I would go with the Nexus 5, it's around $400 and it's well worth it IMO. Specs are great, and the feel of the phone is great, not to mention it's getting the 5.0 Lollipop update soon.

If they sell this in your country go for the Samsung Galaxy A series. A-5 or A-7 great phone reliable, durable, and great battery life.Stay away from Sony pure junk now.

*** Never get Samsung Mid range or Low range smartphones. They will give you pain in the long run. If you prefer Samsung, always opt for it's flagship model [Galaxy S series or Note series]

I am not a fanboy or Something. I just share my experience.
Besides it seems like you never use any other smartphone [Motorola,Huawei,Xiaomi] besides Samsung & HTC [may be you got a crappy model of HTC]
