When I built my rig in March, I avoided replacing my HU196D 1280×1024 monitor, since a decent portion of my game library was 5:4 friendly, and I could use my 1080p 23 inch TV when a game was not 5:4 friendly.

Now my HU196D is dying. Whenever my computer is off and it is plugged in the power light turns red and the screens blinks different colors, so I am on the monitor market now.

I would like to play games at high or ultra settings (the most intensive games I will be playing on it this year will be Assassin's Creed Unity). I was wondering, would my video card be able to handle 1440p? Thanks!

You could run the 1440p monitor but not on high/ultra. I have a 4gb 770 and it can handle most things on high but not ultra. I've seen mixed things about the 760 being able to run on medium with little aliasing though.
