monitor goes black/blank - appears to be power save. won't come back

Oddly my desktop Dell monitor (connected via DVI to ATI card) goes into power save mode and will not come back out....the monitor power button stays green but screen is black/blank.

If I unplug the DVI and reconnect, it comes right back.

Thoughts?

What are your computer specs? Have you tried using a different cord?

Not certain how to post all the specs...but Windows 8, Dell XPS420 desktop. ATI Radeon HD 7700 card.

I have not tried a different cable. but certainly could. Oddly, it only occurs once the times out and blanks the screen due to inactivity.

I think I might know.. DO you connect the monitor to your computer with a vga to hdmi convertor or anytype of converter? Because when I had that exact problem, it was because I was using a faulty converter Hope this helps
