Hello,

I'm in the market for a very old GPU (GeForce 9800 GT) that I've had for over six years. It's at the end of it's life, and I'd like to replace it ASAP. I don't game, so that is not a consideration, and I'd like to spend $100 (or thereabouts) or less. My existing motherboard (Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35) is also old (2008), and it supports PCI-e 1.1 x16.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: within a week

BUDGET RANGE: $75 - $125

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: I think it'd be easier to list what I don't need in a GPU: I don't play any games, watch movies, or do anything too taxing on the GPU

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: XFX GeForce 9800 GT and Tagan TG480-U01 PSU

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 Motherboard and Intel Core2 Duo E8400 3.00GHz CPU

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: I've traditionally bought from newegg.com, but I'm open to other places if they offer a better deal on identical hardware.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: United States

PARTS PREFERENCES: I've traditionally used nVidia cards, but I'm pretty indifferent about this

OVERCLOCKING: No

MONITOR RESOLUTION: currently 1280x1024 but I'm considering replacing the monitor, as well (the monitor is probably close to ten years old)

Thanks in advance for everyone's help.

Thanks for the response. In the event I decide to get back in to some basic gaming in the not too distant future, would the below card serve me well while still allowing for a potential bigger upgrade down the line?

GIGABYTE GV-R726XOC-1GD Radeon R7 260X 1GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready Video Card

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125497&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

That's $100 after rebate. I suppose my questions are 1). is the Gigabye Radeon R7 260x a good card for my needs and 2). since it's not at all definite I'm going to get back into gaming, would it instead be advisable to go with a less expensive GPU (say the one Zerk2012 mentioned)?

Thanks again for your help.
