Stuck choosing a second monitor

I'm stuck trying to choose a new monitor for my desktop, currently I use a Logik 24 inch 1080p TV for all my consoles and my desktop I built a few months back.

Recently I've been intrigued by 21:9 monitors for their benefits to me as a student at uni so I can do two word documents next to each other without them looking too squashed etc, but I don't know how many of my current games will work at this resolution. Whatever monitor I get will be my main display and what I will run games on, the 24 inch tv will just be for temp monitoring or youtube/ walkthroughs etc.

I'm not picky on the size to be honest, I do have a budget of £200 to spend and I don't think that there are any 1440p monitors that cheap and even if there was I doubt my R9 270X would be able to handle that res on high/ultra settings. So what do you guys think? Should I get a 23/25/27 inch 21:9 or go for a 27/29 inch 16:9 and what makes and why?

First of all you can always get another monitor as you mentioned instead for opting for a 21:9 ratio monitor. As far as I know there's an LG 29 inch model no: Flatron 29UM65-P 29 SuperWide LED Monitor that my housemate got and it's working very well for him(for programming). However I am using two Asus 24 inch VE247H FHD LED and I'm very happy at the moment. I do programming and reports as well and it's always a good thing having a second monitor especially since you're also using a games console. I don't think a 29" will spoil your resolution in games (that said if you keep it at 1080p). The LG 29" I mentioned costs £270 by the way which for me is expensive since you can get two 21.5 " FHD LED monitors from any maker(Asus,BenQ,LG,Samsung). Check here:

Hope I helped :)

Most games are really versatile and will run at any resolution you want it too(Think about the people with triple monitor setups).
Personally, I'd go with the 16:9, especially for watching movies/videos, as say, if you are watching a true 1080p movie/video in a ultra wide monitor you'd get 2 black bars on either side, similar to when you watch a 4:3 movie on a widescreen. To me, that looks a lot worse than black bars in the top and bottom. Also, web content and documents as such would, in my opinion require more scrolling, rarely any website will be able to utilize all that width. For me, i think the cons outweigh the pros of a 21:9 monitor, and i'd stick with the defacto 16:9.

So I could run them on either side of my tv in an eyefinity setup of 3 screens? wouldn't the different sizes make games look odd?

I know they are all the same res, its just the form factor of each would surely make the image not align properly

I was referring to you choosing one model of the 4 I gave you and buying two of them. So you would end up with 2 x 21.5 FHD LED monitors connected to our GPU.

Ahh ok, I thought you were saying to get two of them and use them in conjunction with my existing tv/monitor in a 3 way eyefinity setup.
