DVI splitter, two monitors, different resolutions

I have a graphics card with on two ports, an HDMI and DVI.

For a third monitor I was going to use a DVI splitter (like this one http://aluratek.com/2-port-dvi-video-splitter) to extend the desktop. Will this work with two monitors with different resolutions? If anyone has tried this let me know. Thanks

Well it would work with different displays but you won't be able to get three independent screens. The monitors which are connected trough splitter will be duplicated.

Right it would be an extended monitor running at 3840 x 1080.

Since one of my monitors runs at 1920 x 1200 and the other at 1920 x 1080. I would be stuck with a black line at the top and of the 1920 X 1200 monitor correct?

No the monitor with the higher resolution will reduce itself to the most common highest resolution both monitor have. There will no black border.

Hmm, when I kick it down to 1920 x 1080 I get a black line on the top and bottom of the screen

Well try 1280x720 with full aspect ratio and see if you get a black line. That is just for checking purpose if you get a black border on common resolution.
