Hello,

I have the following setup :

Intel 3930
ASUS rampage IV extreme
16GB DDR3
690GTX

and i want to SLI (Quad 690) or to buy single 980GTX , what do you recommend ?

I found good offer on 690 used (350$) but i can pay 600$ for 980GTX single if its better than 690 Quad.

I have 1080P monitor but im using the new Nvidia Driver which allow to upscale to 4K (DSR)

I'd go for the 980 over quad cards.
For 1080p the 980 should be excellent.

My 970 is excellent and I've used 4k DSR pretty nicely. I use VSYNC and see like 70% gpu usage on the highest game settings.

So the 980 will be slightly better. If you want to save $200 get the GTX970.

A single card is ALWAYS better than multiple cards. I would not go for 4 x 690 (very power consuming, wont get a performance boost you want). And for money reasons, sell your 690 and buy 1 980. btw 2 x 690 does not equal 2 times better quality, nor 3x 690 nor 4x 690. Using 2 x 690 your looking at a max 1.5 times better performance than a single one.
