My apologies if i do this wrong. First time that im asking something here.
My question to the community is which one should i go for?
A MSI H97 Gaming 3 motherboard or a MSI Z87-G43 motherboard?
The difference betweeen them is only about 10$ from the site that im ordering.
I checked the MSI website for both the motherboards and got further confused on which to go for.
The z87 has RAM overclocking ability and the h97 has features like gaming app and xsplit gamecaster.
My build is:
Processor: i7 4790
RAM: Hyper X FURY 16GB 1600Mhz
Graphics: (havent decided yet, might go for it later)
so my questions are:
Can you overclock RAM on the h97 beyond 1600Mhz?
Is the z87 worth it? and....
Is overclocking RAM advantageous for editing and also gaming?

First as your processor Is the i7 4790 you need a H97 or Z97 Chipset.
But as the multiplier is not unlocked hence the "K" at the end of some processors you only need a H97 motherboard as you are not overclocking.
So any motherboard with the H97 will work

Your CPU requires the LGA 1150 Chipset = B81, B85, H97, Z97

Here's the way I personally look at these mobos from a gaming point of view:
B81 is more suited for work stations w/o overclocking.
B85 is more suited for light gaming w/o overclocking.
H97 is more suited for mid-range gaming w/o overclocking
Z97 is more suited for high-end gaming with overclocking

The 4970K goes with the 'Z' the 4790 goes with the 'H'

The Z87 is for the previous Gen of I7's (like the 4770K) so you'd want to pick the H97.
