Hi, I'm curious would it be possible to have a single gaming monitor plus an hdtv? The idea is to have my Asus rog swift as my main daily PC/gaming monitor and my 40in led tv strictly for streaming movies and shows from my pc. I really need help as to how I can have this setup or is it even possible?

My setup,
i5 4670k cpu
8gb Patriot ram
Asus Maximus VI hero mobo
GTX 770 SC
Samsung 250gb ssd
Corsair AX860 psu

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Update:

I recommend the ROKU 3 as the best media device for an HDTV though I haven't tried it. It's $100 but worth it IMO.

Comparison: https://www.roku.com/products/compare

The ROKU 3 notably has a USB input, ethernet connection, and SD card slot. Not having a USB connection to add a hard drive is a big deal breaker for me.

If you're absolutely certain you only care about STREAMING then the USB stick looks interesting as it and the included remote are only $50. Plus, I assume Netflix and other services would just stream from your router (not PC).

Other:
Amazon's Fire TV is also $100 but from what I've quickly read it's not really setup to stream your own data...
I'd suggest getting a media player instead and stream to that, or even get a USB hard drive to copy videos to and connect that directly to the media device.

(I have a 2TB hard drive hooked up to my WDTV device and just navigate the folders to choose the video I want to play. FYI, if you ever find any video formats incompatible Handbrake works great.)

ROKU has several different choices with pros and cons.

I love my Western Digital but the cheaper new model no longer supports Netflix.

A big advantage of a media device is you have a remote control, or can just leave the PC off if you decide to run Netflix or a similar app on the device.

Thank you soo much for the advice. Another thing I would like to know, is cable input. Right now I have dvi-i to hdmi on the led tv and displayport 1.2 from and to the Asus rog swift. I'm trying to get the best in quality out of the led tv and game monitor
