the monitor won't shut off with the pc? so it just stays on with a black screen after?

I have a couple of these units - try the 'off' button underneath the monitor.

Yes. I just see a small window in the middle which says that I have a disconnected cable.
I have to shut it down with the monitor on/off switch. When I reboot my computer, I switch it on and it is fine. Thanks for your concern and your quick reply.
