TV degrading visual quality?

For Christmas I am building a gaming computer to beat next gen. After looking a long time, people have confirmed it will be better. The only problem is that I have to play it on my 1080i TV, my monitor is being used by my families work pc. Will the quality be noticeably worst? I am waiting for next year to get a high Hz monitor. I will be using a HDMI connection on a R9 270X 4GB

1080i is effectively 540p

If your monitor supports 720p i would use that instead of 1080i.
