Best graphics card for 2560x1440p monitor?

I am looking for a crisp running graphics card that can run crysis or other ultra performance games on a 27" 2560x1440p resolution monitor. The card has to also be able to support a 144Hz overclockable monitor, which I may buy in case I get tired of the current monitor I have.

I know next to nothing about graphics cards but I've done my research and it seems to me that there are two great options I can choose from: GTX780 ti or the GTX780. I don't know the difference.

GTX 980 is your best option at the moment.

The best GPU for the 2560x1440p is a AMD R9-295X2. That is the strongest GPU designed for gaming. Nvidia has their Titan graphic cards, that they advertise for gaming but are really used for workstation programs. Pick the R9-295X2 or the GTX 980.

Crysis 1, 2 or 3?.. Pretty sure anything above a 680 can run Crysis 1 at 1440p on Ultra... But I don't think anything can run Crysis 3 at 1440P on Ultra above 60fps, not a single GPU atleast, maybe SLI 970's, 980s, Titan, 780Ti's.

For 1440p I would recommend getting the 980 it might not overclock better than a 780Ti but it is newer technology with more memory, less power consumption.

well both are beaten by the cheaper more efficient gtx 970~320$

so if you want to do 1440p go for the gtx 970 4g , i would suggest the asus strix

it is a decent GPU and suitable for 1440p and an overkill for 1080p

instead of the gtx 980 you could SLI the gtx 970 , thus getting better performance if you are not satisfied

or even 2 770s if you really are trying to push every game the the max.

pushing 1440p on ultra trying to get 90+ fps isnt always easy for every game.

i run 1440p as well. I would really recommend 2 cards

if u want to push 120 FPS+ ur best bet is a GTX 970 SLI.
for 60FPS 1440P i will always go with the Strongest Single Card GTX 980 to run into less trouble how ever most of the new games have full support for SLI anyway

a GTX 980 will cost u around 550$~ usd a GTX 970 SLI will cost around 660-700$~
