Extended Display for PC 2 Monitors

The PC is Fujistu Esprimo E420 with intel HD graphics, at the back it has a 1xVGA and 1xDVI-D port at the back. I've been trying to get it to be a dual monitor system, first i tried VGA splitter cable to go to both displays but that would only duplicate the display. Now i tried a DVI-d to VGA adapter but still no luck. but before i throw more money at cables and adapters.

Would DVI-d to DVI-d cable to go along side with a VGA to VGA, would that enable me to extend the displays along two monitors ?

dvi-d: that is only a digital output, no analog (vga) output

Now you are on the right track: just plug in a vga cable to vga ports and the DVI-D cable to the DVI-D ports
