Probably either ruined the bushings in the water pump because there wasn't sufficient water to cool the pump OR warped the head(s) because the engine overheated. It probably won't be cheap...

Seconding kanewolf's assessment. Excepting that with a busted head you would see a mix being leaked, not just water.

I agree with kanewolf and guigoos, running a car without enough water to cool it results in a lot of problems.
I suggest to check the whole cooling system (the radiator and all the pumps and everything) and the engine itself (the block and head).
Obviously, there is something wrong, try to fix it before it gets worse.

Fill the engine with coolant and get it pressure tested. That should show you where the leak is. Every one else gave the right answers as to what it could be but this should show you what it is.

The problem is here that you have a hyundai. they are crap cars and you should by a vauchall calibra as they are great.
