Hi all, my username implies I am a CPUPRO, but I wish I knew the answer to my question.

Can you pros please suggest the best value multicore CPU for a dual CPU motherboard? I am hoping to use AMD because of pricing but would consider Intel. I want to build a system for 3D rendering. Is the 8 core AMD bulldozer line ready for use on a dual CPU mother board and can you recommend a board? I am targeting as many cores as I can.

If you can start from the lowest price CPU for dual CPU operation and move upwards in price, that would be great.

Also, what if I want to build two of these systems? Is there any space saving case that I can get? I am thinking about something like a blade server but I don't know if there is a setup like this for homes as I haven't got cooling for these blades.

So my thoughts are on the traditional horizontal case/tower where I can stack one on top of the other.

Thanks!

Xeon e5 2603v3 is a 6 core @ 1.6ghz for $215 - no hyperthreading or turbo
Xeon e5 2609v3 is a 6 core @ 1.9ghz for $300 - no hyperthreading or turbo
Xeon e5 2620v3 is a 6 core @ 2.4ghz for $415 - hyperthreaded with +800mhz turbo
Xeon e5 2630v3 is a 8 core @ 2.4ghz for $650 - hyperthreaded with +800mhz turbo

The 2620v3 and 2630v3 are great values for dual socket.

I do not recommend any AMD
