Gaming monitor also used as television via HDMI ports

Hello,

I need to purchase a new monitor for my computer. Currently I am using a TV with two HDMI ports hooked up to my computer and cable box.

The monitor I would like to purchase is: [BenQ RL2455HM 60Hz 24.0" Monitor](http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/benq-monitor-rl2455hm)

Would I be able to use this monitor as a TV aswell as for computer? Switching through the HDMI ports like I am currently doing with my TV.

In addition, will universal remotes work on this monitor?

I have never heard of using a monitor as a TV before, but I did the other way around. I don't know if you can use a monitor to watch TV.

The monitor is connected to the cable box via HDMI, the remote has to be pointed at the cable box for volume, options, and changing channels. The remote will never be used on the monitor only the cable box. All I need the monitor to do is display. Just like the TV I am currently using does.

If your GPU has a HDMI port, I don't see why not that it won't display on the monitor too.
