The advice here on recommended PSUs for SLI confuses me!

Ive been doing a lot of research because I plan on adding a second GTX 970 for SLI. Now I currently have a Corsair HX650 power supply. The advice everyone gives here is that I would need a 750W PSU to run SLI, but Extreme power supply calculator is telling me that 573 Watts is recommended making my current PSU more then sufficient. Any insight here?

ps. I don't plan on OC'ing anything

Is the 750 recommended by you guys because it would be further away from the Max of my current power supply?

You'll be fine with your 650w PSU, ignore the twats that tell you you need a 750w PSU as they are newbs who know not what they bleat on about.
