One quick question before I pull the trigger on the final piece for my build, the GFX (already have the system running off of integrated gfx on a i5-4690k)

I'm looking at buying a 1440p monitor mainly because of my choice of build / price. Originally I was considering leaving room to SLI the card on a 4k monitor, but after research into compatibility issues with the resolution alongside the inferior quality of sub-$800 4k screens I've dropped the idea in favor of a 1440 IPS.

I don't think think running at 1440p will be an issue for the GTX 970, but what about adding in a second monitor at 1080? For example, gaming on the 1440 while browsing on the 1080 / streaming Netflix? Are my hopes too high for the card, and if so, worth the bump to a 980 instead? (I can't SLI 970's with the mobo/psu I chose)

Solution
Having a secondary monitor sitting at the desktop (or whatever really so long as its static) consumes pretty much nothing in terms of GPU resources. Video does, but not enough to impact gameplay.
