Will my Monitor support DVI-D Dual Link, and will I see any benefits over DVI-D Single Link?

I have an ASUS VW246H 24" 2ms(GTG) LCD Monitor (Bought it new in 2009). I use 1080p resolution. At the moment, I am thinking if I should get a DVI-D Dual Link cable to replace my DVI-D Single Link (which came with the monitor). But I'm not sure if my monitor will support Dual LInk and/or if it will be worth it.

My user manual which I still have, just says DVI (doesn't say Single or Dual). I checked the pin-out on the monitor, and it matches how the DVI-D Dual Link looks here (so it will connect, but I'm not sure if that means it will work):

If the pins match, does that mean it will work?

In the manual, it says my monitor supports 75Hz, but I can only get 60Hz at 1080p. I was curious to know if maybe a Dual Link DVI-D might allow me to get the extra 15Hz? Or any other improvements?

I also just bought an asus monitor (60 htz) and have yet to get round to buying a dvi-d cable, though I believe it will make little or no difference.
The refresh rate you are looking at is locked out at 1080p because it would in effect overclock the monitor.It can run lower resolutions a bit faster but not 1080p.Programs are available to force it to run faster,but
this is not wise unless you do not mind buying a new one if you destroy it.

Reread my manual, and it was 75hz @ those lower resolution. For 1080p, it just say 1920x1080 @ 60 hz.

Also, I will go on amazon now, and order the gold plated DVI-D cable that costs about £7. I doubt it will make much difference, but the cable is 2 metres long and higher quality so its worth buying. I will post back here if the thread is not closed.

Did you ever get your DVI Dual Link? If so, any difference?
