Upgrading Laptop RAM, Which kit would be best?

Right now I have a Acer Aspire 7551

This is the RAM

I'm looking for a 2x4gb RAM kit for a performance boost hopefully kept under $100.

This is the RAM Kit Crucial said would be most compatible with my current system. Totaling to $85.20 w/ an ESD Wrist wrap.

These are the kits Newegg said would work for me.

G.Skill Ripjaws lat 9

Crucial Ballistix

G.Skill Ripjaws lat 11

Which should I buy? Does latency matter? This list is pretty much all the filters checked off the specs from Crucial.

  1. CAS Latency does matter. Its like the reaction time of the RAM. To find out the speed of the RAM, you divide the CAS Latency by the MHz speed, to get its speed in seconds.

    So, here are the speeds.

    G.Skill Ripjaws - 1600MHz - CAS Latency 9
    Speed: 0.0056

    Crucial Ballistix - 1600MHz - CAS Latency 9
    Speed: 0.0056

    G.Skill Ripjaws - 1600MHz - CAS Latency 11
    Speed: 0.0069

So, clearly, the there is no reason to get the G.Skill with a CAS Latency of 11. I guess you should just decide between the two other. Crucial or G.Skill? Personally, I like, and trust Crucial more.
  2. Thanks! Quick question though, does the voltage difference matter?

For performance, no. But, It would probably be wise to stick with the 1.35v RAM. The 1.5v standard in desktops is probably too much for laptops (not saying that some laptops don't have this).
