Hi guys

My motherboard is GA-X58A-UD3R rev 1 meaning that it has 2x3 channel ram slots.

Right now one of the channels are filled with 6GB of ram in the configuration of 3x2GB modules (CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 PC3 12800 Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1600C9).

I would like to upgrade the memory and would like to know what it would be best to do. Should i fill the other trichannel ? and if so, is it best to fill them with another set of TR3X6G1600C9 memory?

Or should i do something else? I am very grateful and open to any suggestions.

I suggest you check if Corsair or Gigabyte officially support 6 modules made up of those 2 kits. The same part number of a newer kit isn't necessarily identical to the kit you already own. 3 modules are easier on the controller than 6 modules. Several owners of X58 motherboards have run into issues with 6 modules.
