Will my Video card still work if i plug my monitor into my motherboard?

When i try to plug my monitor into my video card, it doesn't show any display. Then i try to plug it to my motherboard then it shows some display.I try to play a game like NBA 2k15 and it works but i'm scared, i don't know if my video card is broken.

When you plug your monitor into your motherboard, you are bypassing the video card, and using the on board graphics.

Try reinstalling the drivers for your video card, and also reseating the video card in the slot on the motherboard.

Also make sure that any PCIe connectors are connected to your graphics card.
