Cannot quite make up my mind about PSUs, I'm looking primarily at the following:

  • Seasonic Seasonic X-460FL2 460W 80 Plus Platinium
    Silverstone NightJar NJ520
    Super Flower Leadex Gold 650W

Primary concerns - quietness and power efficiency. I'd like to go fanless, but might be facing ambients of 35C / 95 F in summer, and am slightly concerned about electrical whine. But overall I'm leaning towards fanless.

My system will have:

  • Probably a Core i7 4th gen Haswell e.g. i7-4790K w/ Z97 mobo
    Fractal Design Define R4 case
    Single MSI GeForce GTX 760 N760 TF 2GD5/OC 2GB GDDR5 - draws 170W
    Two SSDs
At least initially, nothing else (no HDD, no optical drive, etc.)

Any advice, please?

Hi - If you don't plan on upgrading to a stronger GPU, then I'd suggest going with either the
Seasonic or Super Flower models. Nothing wrong with the Siverstone, but they offer a 3yr warranty
while the other two have a 5 yr warranty.

The Leadex is not Haswell certified (not listed on the Super Flower site) while the Seasonic is.
But, it's an easy work around (disable the c6/c7 sleep state in BIOS). And if you plan on upgrading
to a more pwer hungry GPU in the future you'll need the xtra amps the 650w unit provides.

If you are not going to upgrade from the gtx 760, go with whichever is cheaper.
