I want to move wireless router and modem upstairs. I have Ethernet wall ports in various rooms. If I hook DSL modem into phone jack upstairs and connect it to wireless router and then plug the wireless router into one of the Ethernet ports that is currently hooked into switch in basement, will all devices upstairs that are connected to the wall ports have internet access?

It's worth a shot but I think it may depend on the type of switch. If it has an input port - a different coloured block - make sure the router goes into that one.

Thanks for the info. It's an unmanged switch and all the ports are the same. I currently have the router plugged into the switch now with an Ethernet cable and it works fine but they are side by side right now. It shouldn't make a difference, should it?

That's fine and exactly what happens inmy switch. All eight ports are identical but if one was a different colour, that would have to be the one to use as input. Looks like you've fixed your problem.
