ASUS HD 7790 using 2 monitors causing overheating

I have an ASUS HD 7790, which is supposed to be able to encompass multiple monitors, for a graphics card and my main monitor is connected via HDMI. However, when I add a second monitor, using a DVI to VGA cable, what I assume to be the graphics card, drastically heats up and causes the computer to go to a 0x124 blue screen error. When I take out the monitor, the temperature returns to a normal level. What could be causing this issue and what can I do to solve this issue?

It might be the normal behavior. The second monitor logically results in additional load (= heat). Another factor is the analog VGA port, that requires the so called ramdac to kick in (digital-to-analog-converison = heat).
