Second monitor is detected but won't display

I just purchased a BenQ XL2420Z and hooked it up. Windows recognizes it but I can't get it to display anything on it. I have updated drivers and made sure the dvi cable was working by testing it on my other monitor.

Other info: I have a Nvidia Geforce 580 with 2 dvi ports and the other monitor I'm using is a Acer G245HQ

You need to setup the display in windows next; Tell windows to either clone or extend the current desktop to this new one.
You should be able to do that in the Nvidia control panel.

I've already tried both extend and duplicate in Windows setup that's how I know my computer is detecting it. It just won't display anything. Also there aren't really any options in the Nvidia control panel for setting up a second monitor. I've tried making the BenQ my primary monitor (Which is how I want it anyways.) I've checked the resolution to make sure it matched the other. I've tried setting the BenQ to both 60 and 144 hz. I've restarted my comp both before and after I updated drivers. Still nothing.

Thank you for clearing that up.
Did you go thru the BenQ's menu and select the appropriate signal input? (Hdmi, Dvi, vga ...)
